Scoring
- Honorable 10
- Player holes out in ten strokes. Finishing the hole matters more than the score. Likely namesake of the group.
- Dishonorable 10
- Player takes the maximum ten strokes without holing out. Dishonorable by group definition.
- BTD
- Better Than Dave. The group's scoring benchmark unit, named for Dave Forbes.
- CTP
- Closest to the Pin. $5 bet on approach shots or par 3s. Ball must be on the green to qualify.
- Bills Fight
- Fighting to keep a score under 100. A bill is slang for 100.
- Tankgate
- Suspected handicap-tanking before tournaments. Ali Aladin is the primary target of Tankgate allegations.
- Dark Place
- The mental state during a slump.
- Handicap Monster
- Why players regress mid-round after overperforming.
Callout
- Barry!
- Shawn hits a great shot from a difficult position. Named for his instructor.
- Rory!
- Dave hits a good bunker shot. He is genuinely McIlroy-level from sand.
- Officer
- Drive down the middle of the fairway, like an officer on the Turnpike.
- Smoke Dog
- Long drive down the fairway.
- OPF
- Other People's Fairway.
- On the Floor
- Topped shot that rolls a long distance across the ground.
- Soup!
- Chunked shot, from chunky soup.
- Oh Dear!
- Poor shot.
- Breakfast!
- Second tee shot on hole 1.
- Violence!
- Swinging hard on the driver when out of contention.
- Into the Fan
- Into the breeze.
- Mouse
- Laying up or bailing, typically over water.
- Medicine
- Laying up instead of a hero shot.
- Quad!
- Coined by Bryan Landon, the on-course proclamation after quadruple bogeys. Earned him his permanent nickname.
Course
- Duppy Hole
- A player's ghost hole, one that consistently gives them issues.
- Ants Nest
- Hazard area with many lost golf balls.
- Prime Rib
- Crispy new expensive golf ball, usually found in an ants nest.
- Prison
- Hazardous area very difficult to escape.
- New Friends
- New golf clubs. Not to be used on Game Day.
- Bad Light
- Too dark to finish, often invoked to void losing bets.
Practice
- McDonald's
- Secret practice. Origin: Jermaine parked at the McDonald's near his neighborhood and walked onto Carolina Golf Club to work on his short game while publicly claiming he never practiced. Now applied to any secret practitioner.
Putting Game
- Knee Knocker
- Putt just outside gimme range.
- Taxi!
- Putt rolls way past the hole. Coined by Junior Walker.
- Need More Truffles
- Putt left short. Coined by Jermaine. Originally Need More Garlic, changed after a $75 white truffle upsell at a Vegas dinner.
- On the Schneid
- Last person to 3-putt owes $5 to everyone.
- Snake
- Newer version of schneid with per-3-putt pricing, typically $1 to $2 per 3-putt.
- The Ted Rule
- Schneid gimme-mark rule, named after Ted at Stiles, where TJ Forbes worked as Financial Manager.
Nickname
- Big Dog
- Low-handicap member, typically single digits.
- Poodle
- High-handicap member.
Tradition
- Badmind
- Jamaican slang for wishing bad things on people. The original WhatsApp group name, and the cultural soul of the Honorables.The group chat was founded in June 2016 under the name Badmind group. The metadata still carries it today.
- Game Day
- Saturday. Mandatory $10 pot for lowest net score with handicaps.
- Whites Group
- The foursome out of contention, drinking Whites (the Jamaican rum). Not competing, just drinking.
- Devotion
- TJ's pre-tournament motivational chat messages. A beloved ritual.
- DOTS game
- Hole-by-hole points game TJ runs at $3 per dot.
